They both are professional 3-Axis Stabilizer Hand-held Gimbals with Circular handle.

MoviPro has five shooting modes, they are Ring、Skate, Classic, Aeria and Tero, Need to resemble again and again while changing a shooting mode.

2, In weight
MoviPro is nearly half lighter than Ronin2, it's just 2.65 kilograms,and more comfortable to hold.
Ronin2 doesnt have a weight advantage compare with MoviPro, it reaches 2,65 kilograms even without the handle, As a result, Ronin2 is much harder to hold in the process of shooting.

3,In ports
MoviPro equipped with 2-12v DC- out Port,1-12-14v DC-put Port .

While Ronin2 contains multiple ports. Including 6-14.4v 6-pin and 2-12.6 p-tap power port, mufti-interface allows it support enough power for itself, at the same time, Could contribute extra power to Camera, monitor screen, and focus.SDI can be connected to the top of the Gimbal platform in the process of working. That totally ensure the efficiency.


4, Parameters adjusting
There is the touch panel on the back side of MoviPro, users can adjust the flight parameter through the panel, even without the joining of the phone or the computer. That Optimized gimbal performance when switching.

5.Ronin2 can also be set the parameter quickly in the absence of a phone or a computer, besides, MoviPro and Ronin2 both have independent APP.

In hardware quality
1, The MoviPro official data shows the torque of the motor has been doubled on the base of the previous. and Ronin2 also increased eightfold compares to its predecessor. Both of them are powerful enough.

2, From a compatibility standpoint, MoviPro has a superiority of weight, but it not good at payload. The max payload of MavioPro is 6.8kg.and the size is not so big; its specification is 196mmx200mmx165mm. the max payload of the camera is the ALEXA Mini+MP

3, In a battery
Both supporting Hot-Swappable batteries.
Movipro can fly 6 hours when it equipped with two pieces of 1800mah-22.2v batteries.The centre of gravity of the battery is in the centre.

Ronin2 can work 8 hours when it equipped with two pieces of 4280mah-22.8v batteries, Even if in the situation of supplying power for other devices can still work 2.5hours. The barycenter of the battery on the back side, that means it's not convenient to hold, so it doesnt take advantage of the comfort level of Hand-hold. But the removable battery can be attached by wires that makes the power supporting easier. In addition, the battery has self-healing function, that makes it can work in the low-temperature environment.

4, In the installation
Ronin2 upgrade to a technology for Micro - knob structure and -3-axis-Pan- lock functions. The knob is simplified with integrated adjustment knobs and a re-designed camera mounting base. You simply fixed at first and then do the fine adjustment, through the three-axis knob locking, just adjusting one of the axes can maintain other axes. For a fresh hand, this design makes it easier to operate.

MoviPro needs the proficiency for installation because of the user of the form of the moveable padlock. In the installation testing, MoviPro takes 13 minutes 36 seconds.while Ronin2 takes 8minutes 40 seconds.

This is the equipment box of the two type gimbals, we can know the difference between the accessories.


Except for the necessary accessories, Ronin2 has attached with a accessories package, its includes screw, Type-C data cable, SDI cable, RED and ARRI ALEXA power cable, Triple P-TAP breakout box, Dual battery mount extension cable, battery charger power cable and so on. That really brings a great convenience.


We use Z1-the multiple rotors Quadcopter to do the hover test. During the course of the test, we use the RED 8K and RED DRAGON lens and coupled with Zeiss and Leica group. The weather is slightly different, but the location is basically same.

Z1 is a professional Quad-copter with the type of 4 axes 8 oars, recommended payload is 20kg and the max payload is 40kg, can load almost all professional cine camera cameras, so its the most suitable platform.

Static test

According to our testing video, We draw a conclusion like that -there is no difference when using MoviPro equipped with 15mm-35mm Leica lens .but an obviously low-frequency vibration was showing up in a hover condition when it equipped with  50mm75mm100mm Leica lens respectively. The whole picture was coordinated, Has had almost no high-frequency vibration.

While Ronin2 was just the opposite; With less low-frequency vibration, but the high-frequency vibration was more obviously in the same testing environment equipped with the same lens. The whole picture was stable, which has had no vibration but with a little part of high-frequency vibration.

Dynamic testing

The picture of MoviPro has had no obvious vibration with 15mm lens, and the picture unstable in the horizontal direction, especially at a high speed. For wider views than 50mm, it has had no regular high-frequency vibration blur.

Ronin2 has had no obvious vibration with 15mm lens, also including in high-speed flying situation and in the process of the pitch correction .it has had a good performance for wider views than 35mm. Regular high-frequency vibration blur situation was worse than MoviPro with wider views than 50mm.

Less high-frequency vibration makes it keeps a clear picture and can afford high-quality picture just on a basis of slightly correct.
       

We had also used a 200mm lens, MaviPro performs not so well and has had dramatical vibration, that means Ronin2 has a higher stability than MoviPro.(Equipment of 200mm lens is not often happened, its just a limit test.)

Performance Parameter Summary

After the comparison of the details of the parameters and the actual flight test, we can conclude that the difference between MoviPro and Ronin2. Ronin2 is superior in industrial design compares to MoviPro in terms of their appearance, and in terms of their bayonet and plugs. It is also superior to MoviPro in materials


We conclude that MoviPro and Ronin2 have their own strengths and weaknesses
based on the flight test details and comparison of parameters. The industrial design of Ronin2 is superior to MoviPro, including the mechanical configuration, Lens mount and plugs. There is also an advantage on the using of materials.


Meanwhile, Ronin2 is more easy to uninstall and operate. Having better endurance.

Obviously, MoviPro and Ronin2 have their own advantage; MoviPro has less high-frequency vibration, Ronin2 has less low-frequency vibration, Overall, MoviPro has a clearer picture while Ronin2 has a more stable picture.

Ronin2 is about 2 kilograms heavier than MoviPro.That means it a little bit difficult to hold in the absence of auxiliary equipment. MoviPro is much lighter.


Influence factors sometimes make a big difference in picture quality, and the weight factor takes a big part of these factors. So MoviPro has an absolute advantage in weight. while the heavier weight means it has a strong industrial frame, more powerful motor and better stability.


Ronin2 has a large payload capacity, it can load more professional cine-cameras. Ronin2 can limit load Alexa-XT+MP lens while MoviPro Max payload is Alexa MINI+MP lens.


Ronin2 new adjusting knob and precise calibration is a major bright spot, for starters, such a design makes it easier to adjust and operate, to a great extent, save time, improve the working efficiency. The installation time of our test — Movipro -- 13min36s; while Ronin2 is --8min40s.


In the actual shooting, operation,Ronin2 gives the filmmakers a more accurate picture. Movi tends to be soft. So the accuracy for controlling of Ronin2 is better than Movipro.


According to all of the testing results and our experience of Aerial photography, we conclude that they each have advantages and disadvantages to adapt the various scenes. if you want to choose a more portable one, MoviPro is the right choice; It fit the lighter chimaeras.


While in a vehicle or loading heavy, We tend to suggest you choose Ronin2; It has an undoubted payload ability. (If you need ALEXA MINI with MA lens, also equipped with dual motor)

So there is no good or bad, just according the using habits.


But for me, I tend to use Ronin2 in a big-budget film, cause it can load ARRI Alura 30-80mm T2.8 M Telephoto zoom lens, Which can realize focusing control in the process of flying.but For the photographer who pursues extreme speed can consider giving up the heavy equipment.
